western would be the best bet since i just started right? although i should keep looking for pokemon...

naah, you mixed it up. The west holds the four most powerful gyms--Canovia, Draconia, Snowline and Darkinis...you should head east. Totodile and Larvitar should ahve an edge against sunnyside.
